Current Legislation That Impacts Life, Marriage, and Family Issues

Illinois SB 3499 legalizes Physician Assisted Suicide
SB3499 103RD GENERAL ASSEMBLY (ilga.gov)

Illinois SB 3499 would legalize Assisted Suicide in the State of Illinois. Here is the current bill as introduced. The bill is problematic because it violates our belief that all life is sacred and has dignity, regardless of capability or stage of life. It opens the door to discrimination against the disabled, those suffering from mental illness, and those with expensive medical treatments. It compromises the doctor-patient relationship, and in states that have legalized it, the overall rates of suicide have risen. It is much more dignified to offer palliative and hospice care than to help someone kill themselves. Assisted suicide is not compassionate, it's just suicide. Please pray for our legislators and let them know that you do not want them to vote for this bill.

Illinois HB 4876 Expands Definition of Child Abuse to those parents or caregivers that deny their children access to abortion or medical treatment that attempts to promote the growth of opposite sex secondary traits.
Illinois-2023-HB4876-Introduced (legiscan.com)

Illinois recently introduced a new bill that would change the definition of “abused child” to include minors whose parents are in opposition to their children receiving puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, transgender surgeries, and abortions. House Bill 4876 also protects doctors from liability if they prescribe those types of treatments outside of parental consent and authorizes the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to intervene and potentially remove children from their biological parents under the new definition of an “abused child.” Please let your legislators know that this legislation does not protect our children, and opens the door to children being coerced into receiving medical treatment without the knowledge of their parents.
